Infant Jesus Hospital

Infant Jesus Hospital, Manimala, is a faith-based healthcare institution built on a long-standing tradition of compassionate and ethical medical care in Kerala. The hospital is a proud branch of St. Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha, one of the most trusted hospitals in the region, founded in 1953 by the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Mathew Kavukattu. For over seventy years, St. Thomas Hospital has been recognised for its commitment to quality healthcare, medical excellence, and patient-centred service.

Infant Jesus Hospital functions under the guidance of the St. Thomas Institutions of Healthcare and Medical Education (STIHAME), the parent organisation for nine healthcare and medical education institutions operating under the Archdiocese of Changanacherry. Through the STIHAME healthcare network, the Hospital upholds high standards in clinical care, education, ethical practice, and service delivery, strengthening access to quality healthcare in the region.

The healthcare mission of St. Thomas Hospital expanded to Manimala in 2021 with the establishment of St. Thomas Health Centre, Manimala, which provided outpatient and emergency services to the local community. As trust and demand grew, the centre evolved steadily, responding to the healthcare needs of Manimala and neighbouring areas.

The foundation stone for Infant Jesus Hospital, Manimala, was laid on 3 July 2023, marking a major milestone in the development of a modern secondary-level multispecialty hospital in Manimala. In the Jubilee Year of the Nativity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, the hospital was formally inaugurated and blessed on 25 December 2025, a date of deep spiritual and symbolic significance.

The hospital was inaugurated by His Grace Mar Thomas Tharayil, Metropolitan Archbishop of Changanacherry, and blessed by His Grace Mar Joseph Perumthottam, Archbishop Emeritus, in the presence of bishops and other distinguished guests. This event marked not only the opening of a new hospital in Manimala, but also the continuation of a healing mission that began more than seven decades ago.

Today, Infant Jesus Hospital, Manimala, serves as a secondary-level multispecialty hospital in Kerala, strategically located on the Sabarimala route, providing accessible, ethical, and patient-centred healthcare. Equipped with modern infrastructure and advanced medical facilities, the hospital combines professional excellence with compassionate care rooted in Christian values.

As part of the STIHAME healthcare institutions and the legacy of St. Thomas Hospital, Chethipuzha, Infant Jesus Hospital, Manimala, continues to grow with a clear vision for the future, including progressive development into a multi-super-speciality hospital.
